Bethesda announced that they will be throwing their hat in the ring for E3 press conferences this year, joining the ranks of Sony, Microsoft, EA, and Ubisoft. This announcement has led to wild speculation about what could prompt such a massive move, and the PSLS staff is here with their thoughts on what Bethesda could have up their sleeves.

I’d wager Bethesda isn’t holding a conference for just one game. So maybe Fallout 4, new Elder Scrolls teaser, The Elder Scrolls Online new details, and DOOM 4 among other things.

Maybe a sequel to The Evil Within as well? It’s just odd if they’re doing this for just one game. This means more work for the PSLS crew, but I’ll take it. More conferences are always welcome.

Chandler Wood (@FinchStrife)

In previous years, Bethesda have paired their announcements with the big console manufacturer’s conferences, so for them to come out with their own conference is indicative of a move to wanting to be viewed in the same circles as huge publishers like EA and Ubisoft. While this may be concerning to some who are worried about seeing yearly iterations of Elder Scrolls or Fallout, I think it is just the opposite. We are going to get new IPs, perhaps some news on beloved franchises like Fallout or Wolfenstein, and overall we’re going to see Bethesda start to contend for the top spot as a respected publisher in the gaming industry.

I just want more Elder Scrolls announcements. This is five days after Elder Scrolls Online releases for PS4, so I’m hoping for perhaps a little information or additional news about that ecosystem. I also wouldn’t mind a tease for the next single player Elder Scrolls game, because I can’t wait to get one of those on the PS4.

Well, I’d hate to sound like a broken record since we covered this in this week’s episode of Bad Gamers, but Bethesda wouldn’t be doing this if they didn’t have some big things to show off. This of course means the first showing of Fallout Next, Dishonored 2, and more Doom. There will have to be more information, but as was said on the show, this does feel like they are trying step up their game and presence as a publisher.

The real question is… will they fix their engine? Make an all new one? Not shaft PlayStation gamers with an inferior product this time? Is Bethesda capable of releasing a game without a bunch of bugs?

Mark Labbe (@MarkyMark255)

I really hope that Bethesda gives us some information on Fallout 4, but with all of the fake teasers, I’m not getting my hopes up too high. I think that they will probably reveal some info on the console versions of Elder Scrolls Online, but I guess that remains to be seen!
