Perhaps signifying a name change for the long in development title, The Last Guardian trademark has been abandoned by Sony as of today, February 16, a user on NeoGAF discovered.
According to the USPTO website, it was abandoned because “no Statement of Use or Extension Request timely filed after Notice of Allowance was issued.”
Back in August 2012, the exact same thing happened, with Sony responding a day later that “the project is still in development. Nothing new to report at this time.”
We last heard about The Last Guardian in December 2014, where it was said to still be in full production.
We’ve reached out to Sony for comment on the matter and will let you know if we hear anything back.
