Metal Gear Online, the online gameplay companion to Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, will apparently support additional players in custom matches.
According to a few recent Twitter posts made by the official Metal Gear Online account, the development team “implemented a custom match option that allows for additional player numbers.”
When playing a custom match, you can select 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, 4v4, 5v5, 6v6, 7v7, and 8v8 # of players

Commenters on the Twitter posts did bring up a good question — will there be uneven matches? Say, 3v5 or 5v6? The official Twitter account also commented on the posts, explaining that “currently no, modes are designed for even #s of players.” Whether or not this will change in the future is not yet clear. What do you think of the custom match news?
