Following the launch of Final Fantasy Type-0 HD on the PlayStation4 and the announcement of a Type-Next in the works, I sat down with colleagues Heath, and Mark to list out eight things we would like to see in the sequel.
What would you want to see in Final Fantasy Type-Next? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
Type-Next Feature
-
Leave the Combat Alone
There are a few things that Next needs to adjust to make better from the original, but one thing they really should leave alone is the combat. Yes, there are changes that can be made but please make them small tweaks to improve on an already awesome combat system. Most of the changes to this should come in the aforementioned camera tweaks.

The Camera
Seriously, have an option to just adjust the sensitivity of the camera. There really isn’t anything else that needs to be said other than the camera in Type-0 could make a person sick and that is something that Type-Next needs to address.

Try Some Mini-Games
While Final Fantasy Type-0 HD offers some fun core gameplay, there are many chances to take a break from battling and do something else. In a Type-Next, it would be nice to see some other activities or mini games players could take part in to allow some escape from the constant battles. Things like fishing, chocobo racing, or maybe even a in-game card game would be great. Heck, let’s bring back Blitzball right now!

How About Multiplayer
Think about going through levels and instead of controlling your 3 characters on your own, you could have a friend or two jump in and help you take down bosses. Yes, we somewhat have that with the assist options before battle, but those are still AI controlled characters. This would add a really cool feature to the game, similar to Ragnarok Odyssey.
-
Less Restricted Growth
The phantomas were restricted by area, meaning to learn a new form of magic or level up past a certain point, you'd need a phantoma that physically was not available in your area; but you can't go to an area that has it, for story reason. Often, this was an invisible wall, which was stupid.
-
Music to My Ears
One thing that should NOT change in a hypothetical Type-Next is the composer. Takeharu Ishimoto completely rocks anything he touches, as demonstrated by the Type-0 and Crisis Core soundtracks. In both of those games, music was a strength, and I'd love to see Ishimoto back at the helm, making more Final Fantasy music. If Type-Next is how that happens, then I'm excited.
-
Vita and PS4 Release
I know the internet will scorn me for bringing this up again. We all know that Type-0 should have released on the PS Vita and with Next, I believe they need to develop it for the PS4 and Vita. Launching on both consoles worldwide should ensure some great sales and let’s just face it, the game would play great on the Vita.

Voice Acting Help Wanted
A few times while playing Final Fantasy Type-0 HD, I couldn't help but start laughing. This wasn't because of a quirky thing a character did, and it wasn't because of a particularly funny line. Nope, instead it was the comically poor voice acting that made serious lines sound incredibly goofy. In Type-Next, it would be nice to see some better voice actors play all of our favorite characters.
