While PlayStation 4 firmware update 2.50 brought with it the highly awaited Suspend/Resume feature, it seems not every game is as cooperative with the console’s new (and optional) rest mode update.
Case in point: Grand Theft Auto Online is one of the few games that seems to be suffering. Over on the official Rockstar support forum, Rockstar outlines a fix for the GTA Online suspend mode glitch that’s sure to be plaguing quite a handful of online players.
Question: PS4 now supports keeping an application suspended while the console is in Rest Mode. I entered Rest Mode while in GTA Online. After powering the console back on and resuming GTAV, I was placed in a Freemode by myself. Even when I try to switch to a new Freemode, I am the only player. How can I play with other players again?
Answer: We are aware of an issue with solo sessions after resuming GTA Online from the PS4’s Rest Mode with the game suspended. This can be resolved by closing GTAV in the PS4 XMB, then re-launching the game. For GTA Online fans, let’s hope Rockstar finds a way to properly fix it so you can shave off a few minutes when you want to boot the game up from rest mode.
