PlayStation Movies We Want to See on the Big Screen

PlayStation has some of the most iconic video game characters ever created. Nathan Drake, Sackboy, and Kratos are all synonymous with the brand. With such a strong connection between characters and the brand, it is only natural that Sony would try to go outside the typical gaming market with these characters to help raise their profile even more.

Heavenly Sword unexpectedly received a movie release last year, bringing a series, that was thought to be an afterthought, back into the public eye. Since Sony has shown more willingness in bringing their game franchises into the cinematic realm, this got us to thinking about what other series would work since several more movies based on PlayStation properties (including Ratchet & Clank, Uncharted, Sly Cooper and The Last of Us) are in various stages of production.

So without further ado, check out our choices for future PlayStation movies.

Uncharted

This inclusion is already in the works and we can't wait to watch it. The Uncharted series has set new highs for cinematic storytelling in video games, so it is a natural fit to make the transition onto the big screen.
Heavy Rain

The rights to a movie adaptation of Heavy Rain were obtained way back in 2006 (which is four years before the game even came out). While the game's great story hasn't seen an adaptation come to fruition yet, Quantic Dream's game could still be a fantastic fit.
Doki-Doki Universe

While probably the least likely choice on this list to happen, the strange worlds found in Doki-Doki Universe could make for a great animated film. The influence of Greg Johnson, the creator of Toejam & Earl, is seen all over the game and its sense of humor could really translate well.
Fat Princess

Fat Princess has quickly become a PlayStation mascot, as the series has had installments on PS3, Vita and (soon) Ps4. An animated film could help cement her status as a mascot and help flesh out the cute kingdom that she rules over.
Siren

Horror films are a big market which is why we've seen game series like Resident Evil and Silent Hill see movies. Sony could enter the realm with a movie based off their Siren property. Siren is one of the scariest games ever made so it would be a perfect fit to scare film buffs as well.
Parappa the Rapper

Parappa the Rapper isn't a stranger to other forms of media as the game had an anime series in the past. The previous success could see the series come back for some animated films. Who doesn't want to watch Chop Chop Master Onion rap one more time?
God of War

A God of War movie has been in the works since 2005 with a film script that has been going through constant rewrites. While no director has been attached to the project. Hopefully this movie gets out of development hell and gets produced, since it is easy to see how Kratos' tale could be awesome on the big screen.
Jak and Daxter

It seems like every PS2 platformer mascot has a film in production aside from Jak and Daxter. Perhaps an animated film could be what this iconic series needs to get another game in the works.
Knack

One of the heavily pushed PS4 launch titles was Mark Cerny's Knack. While it wasn't the most amazing game, it did feature what was basically a full-length CGI movie in its cutscenes. If we're not going to see Knack's adventures continued in another game, we would at least like to see what would happen in a film.
The Order: 1886

Sometimes the low hanging fruit is the tastiest. The Order: 1886, from its cinematic look to its short length, was a lot like a movie. Throw in the fact that the game never really bothered to complete the story that it was telling and it seems like the perfect fit for a film adaptation. This could easily fill in the gap while Ready at Dawn works on a sequel that addresses the first game's issues.
Syphon Filter

Is there anything cooler than being a secret agent? We didn't think so. Syphon Filter has such a cool setup that it would be a shame if it didn't see a film. Who doesn't want to see Tom Cruise work for the Agency and save the world?
The Last Guardian

It may be time to admit that The Last Guardian might never happen as a video game. If that is true, Sony could at least tell the story that Team Ico wanted to tell through a film adaptation. At this point we'll take whatever we can get in regards to this mysterious game.
Resistance

1950s and aliens? Seems like a great setting for a summer action flick to us! Resistance has been a series that Sony pushed hard through the PS3's lifespan and it is one that could also work on the big screen. A lot of fun could be had in its alternate history setting!
Killzone

While Killzone never quite lived up to its goal of being a "Halo killer" it did turn out to be a good video game series. It could at least beat Microsoft's most important series to the big screen if a film adaptation happened. Just imagining the Helghast's helmets on the big screen is getting us excited.
Tokyo Jungle

Tokyo Jungle has one of the coolest settings in all of video games. Seeing a huge, vibrant city like Tokyo totally devoid of humans with only animals ruling the world is breathtaking. We would love to see a film tell the story of how different types of animals would deal with this landscape. Oh, and throw in some dinosaurs at the end because why not?
Infamous

Infamous has been a series that has consistently put together interesting stories in our living rooms. So obviously we would love to see what they could do with a huge film budget. This would be the perfect way to introduce players to a new conduit and might even tie into another game release.
