As spotted by Videogamer, the Japanese Metal Gear Solid website reveals that Metal Gear Online will support up to 16 players on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, while the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions will go up to 12 players.
In other Metal Gear Online news, earlier this month the Twitter account said there are “no planned Trophies/achievements for MGO,” which means that you won’t have to worry about playing through the online portion of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain to unlock the Platinum Trophy.
The Metal Gear Online Twtter account also discussed their relationship with the developers in Japan:
Our Creative Director and Producer are both developers of MGO2; they work primarily with the team in our Japan office. Creative director [Kotaro Oki] visits our office as often as possible and works with us through long-stretches of development time. Additionally, when he’s away we have multiple weekly discussions both in teleconference and email. In summary, we work closely with the Japan team on a regular basis, about as much as we do with the team not in Japan.
Metal Gear Online launches on September 1 within Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.
