While destruction is a big part of the Battlefield games, DICE General Manager Patrick Bach revealed to Engadget that Star Wars Battlefront won’t feature nearly as much destruction because it just wouldn’t fit the franchise:
Star Wars, as an [intellectual property], is shaping what we’re doing. So we won’t do excessive destruction just because we can. It’s more about ‘what do you need and what you want’ in a Battlefield game versus a Battlefront game.
Explaining what they have planned for destruction a little further, the official EA Star Wars Twitter account said, “We’re using destruction where it make sense but also working to create something that is authentic to the universe.”
As we learned over the last few days, Star Wars Battlefront launches this November on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, you’ll get the Battle of Jakku DLC one week early with a pre-order, the game will run at 60fps, and more than eight maps will be included at launch.
