Mad Max Features “Top Dog Camps” With Boss Fights, Enemy Bases Vary in Difficulty

We’ve recently seen some pretty awesome gameplay footage from Avalanche Studios’ upcoming vehicular combat game, Mad Max. Towards the end of the video (above) we can see a large enemy base. Speaking in the latest issue of GamesMaster, Producer John Fuller said that players can tailor their experience to some extent by either avoiding or going after harder enemy camps called “Top Dogs.” He further said:

We do sort of telegraph difficulty. For example, every camp has a difficulty marking, and then you’ll see maybe one or two in each territory that are called Top Dog camps, kind of like a finale for that region where you have a boss fight. The level of difficulty is greater there, the number of enemies is pumped up, and so on.

The wasteland is treacherous and it’s a hostile place. You will feel that. But you’ll be equipped to deal with it. We want to allow you to make choices, and if you consistently choose to go in gung-ho without preparing yourself then obviously you can give yourself a very hard gaming experience.

Fuller went on to say that Mad Max is unlike survival horror games that “punish you at every turn.”

Mad Max releases on September 1 in North America and September 4 in Europe for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
