Futuristic weapons apparently don’t have iron sights, as Star Wars Battlefront will not allow players to aim down iron sights when it releases on November 17 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, DICE Executive Producer Patrick Bach recently confirmed.
Speaking with the Official Xbox Magazine, Bach explained that “ordinary blasters” will not have iron sights, but various rifles will have scopes.
There are no ironsights in Star Wars, on the ordinary blasters. You have scopes on some rifles, but there are no ironsights.
Bach went on to explain how Battlefront is meant to be different from other first-person shooters, as the team wants to do “something completely unique.”
We’re not taking into account what we’ve done before, because I think that would be disrespectful to the fans, and to what we’re trying to achieve here. A lot of the things you saw in the game have nothing to do with anything we’ve done before. Some features of course resemble [our other shooters], because we want to make the best possible shooter, but in general we’ve tried to do something completely unique.
What do you think of Star Wars Battlefront not having iron sight aiming? Bach was asked if this would impact accuracy in multiplayer games, but he mentioned he couldn’t give out the details of that yet.
