Star Wars Battlefront Won’t Feature Classes or Squads, DICE Confirms

Only last week, DICE discussed how Star Wars Battlefront will not have iron sight aiming in an effort to move away from the Battlefield games. And now, DICE has recently revealed that Battlefront will not also feature classes or squads — two popular aspects of Battlefield.

Speaking with OXM, Design Director Niklas Fegraeus mentioned that players will be able to freely choose their weapons and gear in Battlefront, as there will not be any classes. New weapons and gear will be unlockable using experience points.

Fegraeus also explained that Battlefield‘s five-person squads will not be present in Battlefront. Instead, there will be a new “Partners” system that allows only two players to link up. They will then be able to spawn on each other and will be able to see each other on their HUDs. Fegraeus said that “Partners” will be able to share unlocked equipment, meaning a lower level player could have access to high-level guns if he or she is linked with a more experienced user.

What do you think of all these differences from Battlefield? Star Wars Battlefront releases on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on November 17.
