Update 2:
In the announcement press release, Ubisoft confirmed that development is being led by Ubisoft Quebec, with nine other Ubisoft studios helping out (Montreal, Singapore, Annecy, Montpellier, Reflections, Sofia, Shanghai, Kiev, Bucharest).
Specifically calling it a “single player experience,” Assassin’s Creed Syndicate is set in London during the height of the Industrial Revolution.
Ubisoft discussed how Jacob and Evie Frye differ, while also mentioning how Syndicate features the largest open-world city yet in an Assassin’s Creed game:
Players will embody both Jacob Frye and Evie Frye, twin Assassins raised to follow the Creed. Jacob, a determined, hot-headed and rebellious leader of an underground gang, is vastly different than his sister Evie, a master of stealth and control. Together, Jacob and Evie team up to challenge rivals, plutocrats and Templars alike to free the masses from poverty and corruption, and ultimately wrestle back control of London.
In Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, players explore the largest, most modern open-world city yet in an Assassin’s Creed game. The fighting is more brutal than ever, as players combat rival gangs and grow their sphere of influence throughout London using new weapons, including brass knuckles, a kukri knife, a revolver and the Assassin’s gauntlet. Assassin’s Creed Syndicate also includes innovative navigation and transportation throughout the open world, including a rope launcher for scaling tall Victorian buildings, zip-lining from rooftop to rooftop or performing aerial assassinations, and horse-drawn carriages and high-speed trains for free-running, tracking down enemies or escaping after daring raids.
Creative Director Marc-Alexis Côté added that Syndicate has been in development for more than two years.
Update:
Ubisoft has published all three Assassin’s Creed Syndicate videos from the world premiere, including a lengthy gameplay walkthrough:
Here’s the full description for Syndicate from the Ubisoft Blog:
London during the Industrial Revolution. It’s a time of great technological and philosophical advancement, but it’s also a time of great hardship. The Church and the monarchy are losing power and money is rapidly becoming one of the chief dictators of human behavior. And when money is king, those who have it are the ones in control while those without it are tossed aside and forgotten. Desperation grows among the lower class, leading many of them to lives of crime in order to survive. It is here that we see the birth of organized crime, and the birth of a new era.
The Assassin Brotherhood has been all but eradicated, long kept away by the Templars controlling the city. But now – in the year 1868 – two young Assassins have arrived in London to reclaim the city by force, with street gangs as their armies and the oppressed masses as their eyes and ears. This is Assassin’s Creed Syndicate. Welcome to the Family.
Original Story:

During the video, Ubisoft revealed there will be new features and hundreds of people are working on Syndicate. In the reveal trailer, it’s said the game will take place in 1868 London, with Jacob Frye confirmed as the new assassin, and his sister, Evie, guiding you through parts of the game.
The game also features the fastest combat in an Assassin’s Creed game, while the new traffic system allows you to jump into a carriage and travel around the city.
