Ubisoft Predicts Rainbow Six Siege to Outsell Far Cry 4, No Longer Will Make Last-Gen Games

If you still don’t have a current-gen console, like a PlayStation 4 or an Xbox One, you might want to consider getting one soon.

In a recent earnings call, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot announced that Ubisoft will no longer be making games for the PlayStation 3 or the Xbox 360, barring Just Dance. All other games, “like Assassin’s Creed, Rainbow Six, The Division and an unannounced franchise, we will not have old-gen versions.” At the same time, Ubisoft also revealed that no new IPs will be coming out this fiscal year, which ends at the end of March 2016.

Also during the call, Ubisoft executives explained that they believe Rainbow Six Siege will outsell Far Cry 4, even though Rainbow Six Siege is only coming to PS4, Xbox One, and PC, and Far Cry 4 went to those systems and last-gen systems, too. Of course, we will just have to wait until the shooter comes out later this year to see if that could possibly be true, but for now it remains a pretty bold claim on Ubisoft’s part.

Are you surprised that Ubisoft is no longer making last-gen games? Do you think Rainbow Six Siege will actually outsell Far Cry 4?
