Ratchet & Clank PS4 Remake Delayed to Spring 2016, Will Feature “Spectacular New Gameplay Segments”

To go along with the Ratchet & Clank movie release date announcement yesterday, Insomniac Games also revealed that the PlayStation 4 remake of the first Ratchet & Clank game is now coming out in Spring 2016.

Ryan Schneider, Chief Brand Officer at Insomniac Games, says Ratchet & Clank on PS4 is a re-imagination of the original game, re-telling the origin story that ties in and expands upon the movie’s narrative. With this version, you’ll find several new levels, re-imagined locales like Metropolis, brand new weapons, and completely redone visuals.

He talked a bit about the delay:

While you might have to wait a bit longer than expected, rest assured we’re using the time wisely to further polish the game to a spit-shine level, with dazzling shader response, awe-inspiring effects, velvety smooth animations, and spectacular new gameplay segments. Really, we can’t wait to show it to you.

Continuing the conversation, Schneider says in-game screenshots are coming soon, while development of the game is “largely led by our NC studio, but both studios have collaborated.”

More news on the game is expected soon, with details popping up throughout the year.
