PS4 Features
10 PS4 Features We Want Announced at E3
Blu-ray Movie Recognition
While the PlayStation 4 recognizes what PS4 game you have in the disc drive, it fails to display what movie is queued up. Instead, it displays a generic image of a disc and just says "Blu-ray Disc™". There is no reason for the system to not show what movie is currently in the drive, especially when the PlayStation 3 was able to.
Ability to Group Friends
PlayStation 4 owners can have up to 2,000 friends on their friends list. Understandably, having this many friends makes it very difficult to sort through them. So why not implement a grouping functionality similar to Google+ or Facebook?
Being able to sort your friends by groups could make the friends list much easier to use.
DLNA Support
One of the great features of the PlayStation 3 was the ability to be a client to DLNA servers running on a PC. Sadly, it's one of the several features of the PS3 that's missing from Sony's latest system. Hopefully, DLNA support will be added so media streaming will be a breeze.
Upload Videos and Images to Dropbox
While videos and pictures you take on the PS4 can be shared to social media sites like Facebook and Twitter, there's currently not an easy way to put them on a file sharing site. Dropbox support would fix this problem, and allow you to keep your social media accounts free of clutter while still getting to save your photos.
Create Folders
With the Instant Game Collection and the growing list of great PS4 titles rolling out, it's easy to have dozens of games in your library.
Having a ton of icons can make locating a certain game a bigger hassle than it should be. An easy way to fix this would be to give players the ability to create folders and organize their library how they want it.
Followers
One of the best features on the Xbox One is the ability to follow accounts. This allows you to keep tabs on your favorite Twitch streamer or YouTube celebrity without cluttering up their inbox with friend requests. The ability to follow friends would be a fantastic addition to the PS4.
Additional Media Support
With the introduction of USB media playback in Firmware 2.00 , PS4 owners can now play several types of files including MP3, MP4, M4A, and 3GP. That isn't a ton though, and more file types (such as AVI, MKV, and FLAC) would make the system a much better media player and entertainment hub.
PS1 & PS2 Classics
The PS3 was powerful enough to emulate PS2 software, which allowed Sony to sell PS1 and PS2 classics in the PlayStation Store. Currently, these classic titles are all missing from the PS4 Store. The ability to play more classic PlayStation titles can only be a good thing, so let's hope it gets added soon!
Turn Off the Lightbar
If you're sick of your DualShock 4 controller running out of batteries so quickly, then you probably wish you could turn off the controller's lightbar. It may look cool in some games, but the lightbar should be optional. Let gamers save their battery, Sony!
Change PSN IDs
Are all of your PSN purchases tied to a silly username? PlayStation LifeStyle feels your pain and it is unbelievable that the ability to change PSN IDs hasn't been added. Many gamers would gladly pay a small fee to change their usernames.
