Lords of the Fallen 2 Scheduled for 2017 Release, Co-Developer Deck 13 Isn’t Returning

Just a few days after the Lords of the Fallen Game of the Year Edition was announced, co-developer CI Games revealed to Eurogamer that Lords of the Fallen 2 is in development and scheduled for a 2017 release.

First mentioned in December 2014, the sequel will worked on by a lot of different studios, but Deck 13, co-developer of the original, won’t be involved. CI Games CEO Marek Tyminski said, “We are not working with Deck 13 right now. We are starting the project, we start from the concepting, but we definitely will be working with a lot of partners.”

While CI Games was responsible for keeping the vision, publishing, marketing, and more with the original, “a lot of big production was outsourced,” Tyminski adds. In fact, Lords of the Fallen saw more than 100 artists in China working on the game. “It’s a great experience and we learn a lot – what went well, what went really not so well – and we will be keeping that model for the future, including for Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3.”

Tyminski wouldn’t go into detail about Deck 13’s absence in the sequel, just that both sides came to the conclusion it wouldn’t happen. Deck 13 will be keeping busy though, unveiling a game with Focus Home Interactive at E3.

Tyminski then discussed their vision for Lords of the Fallen 2:

We have very clear thinking on how we want to make Lords of the Fallen 2 and we have a very good idea.

We’re taking all of the lessons from Lords of the Fallen 1 to make, first of all, a much better game, and second, to make it more efficient from the production perspective.

Having shipped 700,000 copies at launch, the original Lords of the Fallen now sits at over 900,000 shipped.
