Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 Confirmed for PS3 & Xbox 360, Won’t Have All the Same Features as New-Gen Versions

While the possibility was put in doubt when Treyarch said they are only developing the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC versions of Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, Activision confirmed today that the game is indeed releasing for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on November 6.

Developed by Beenox (The Amazing Spider-Man) and Mercenary Technology, the PS3 and 360 versions of Black Ops 3 will include the campaign, multiplayer, and zombies modes. While the teams are working to “deliver the best possible experience” on the last-gen consoles, there will be some missing features:

For instance, the campaign mode on Xbox 360 and PS3 is currently in development with a goal of enabling two-player cooperative play, instead of the four-player cooperative campaign on next-gen. There will also be some other features and functionality built specifically for the new generation of consoles that cannot be supported on Xbox 360 and PS3. We’ll be sharing more information regarding feature differences from one console generation to another later this year as launch on November 6 approaches.

They also confirmed a Wii U version isn’t planned.

If you’re wondering, that multiplayer beta will still only be available for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

Expect to hear a lot more about Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 at E3 2015 next week.
