The NPD Group has revealed that Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment is 2015’s top-grossing third-party publisher in the U.S. thus far. It helps that the company has published and distributed some highly-anticipated and well-received titles such as Mortal Kombat X and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. WB’s mobile business has not been accounted for in the report.
NPD Analyst Liam Callahan said in a statement to GamesBeat:
With a consistent stream of launches through the first five month of 2015, Warner Bros. Interactive is the top software publisher year-to-date through May 2015, with over 140 percent increase in dollar sales versus last year. Warner is poised for further growth with the launch of highly-anticipated Batman: Arkham Knight, in June.
Other than the aforementioned games, WB has published Dying Light and LEGO Ninjago: Shadow of Ronin. Upcoming games also include three LEGO titles and Mad Max.
It remains to be seen whether the company will finish this year as the top publisher or not, but it is at least a close contender for the top spot.
