Originally expected to begin filming earlier this year ahead of its June 10, 2016 release, the Uncharted movie has lost its director, Seth Gordon (Horrible Bosses).
Confirmed by EW, Heroic Hollywood originally reported on the news, saying that sources also told them the script is back in development and undergoing further changes.
In conflicting reports, The Wrap says Sony Pictures Motion Pictures Group Chairman Tom Rothman decided to take the Uncharted movie in a new creative direction, rather than slash the budget. According to Heroic Hollywood though, they say Rothman asked for a smaller budget because ‘Sony was hoping this was their Indiana Jones and Rothman is looking at it like Resident Evil.’
While things don’t look good right now for the Uncharted movie, the Uncharted video game franchise will see the Nathan Drake Collection in October and A Thief’s End in early 2016.
Do you think we’ll ever see the Uncharted movie?
