Amy Hennig’s Star Wars Project to be in the Style of Uncharted, According to Nolan North

Last year, Uncharted Creative Director and Writer Amy Hennig left Naughty Dog. A month later, she ended up at Visceral Games as Creative Director on a new, undetailed Star Wars project.

Revealing some potential details, Nolan North took part in a Q&A at MetroCon earlier this month, where he said, “If you’re a big fan of Amy Hennig and her styles of story: the big thing about her is that she’s gone to EA and is going to reboot a brand new Star Wars franchise in the style of Uncharted.”

Adding that he knows a lot about it and “it’s gonna be awesome,” North explained the Star Wars project will be along the same lines as the cancelled Star Wars 1313, which he actually did the first mo-cap tests for.

North also addressed Hennig’s departure from Naughty Dog and Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, which resulted in eight months of her story being thrown away:

I can’t really say too much about that… But I will. We had shot eight months of her story and it was all thrown away. The Last of Us guys came in, they wanted… You have to understand, new producers, new people, they want to do it…

I don’t know what happened exactly, Amy is still a very very dear friend of mine, and she’s brilliant, but The Last of Us guys were the next team there, so they took over and just wanted their own flavor. They got rid of some of the other people involved and just redid the thing.

As a result of Bruce Straley and Neil Druckmann taking the lead on Uncharted 4 , North thinks the tone is going to be slightly than previous Uncharted titles. “It has to be, you know, you can’t have a Robert Ludlum novel that’s going to be the same as Steven King,” he said. “It’s just that they’re different styles. But it’s true to the story.”
