It wasn’t that long ago that the PlayStation 4 finally launched in China, but since that time, it has not been selling all that well in the country.
In a recent report done by Niko Partners, it is predicted that a combined number of only 550,000 PS4 and Xbox One units will be sold in China by the end of the year. Compared to the 375,000 PS4 units that were sold in the United States during the month of January 2014 alone, that number isn’t all that high. Niko Partners mentioned that the sales number could be higher if more AAA titles were approved in China or if the consoles get a price-cut.
The report also said that set-top boxes and Smart TVs are going to outsell consoles in China by 2019, as Smart TVs are allowing more and more games on them and are cheaper than consoles.
