SCE UK Boss Fergal Gara Resigns to “Pursue a New Professional Venture”

Sony Computer Entertainment UK Managing Director and Vice President Fergal Gara has just announced his resignation, with Sony saying that it is so he can “pursue a new professional venture.”

Gara will remain with Sony until Warwick Light, the current SCEE General Manager of Nordics, East & South East Europe, can take over on August 10. SCEE President and CEO Jim Ryan explained that he believes Warwick is the “right person” for the job, and mentioned that Sony is thankful for all of Gara’s work.

Fergal is an extremely talented leader, and in his four years managing the UK business has significantly strengthened the brand and made countless contributions to our success.

He has also served as a key member of the European Executive team, helping to steer PlayStation to even greater heights. We are extremely grateful for his dedication and for the legacy that he leaves.

I have complete confidence that Warwick is the right person to replace Fergal in the UK role, and his 20 years of service to Sony has been marked by outstanding performance.

What are your thoughts on Gara’s departure?
