NIS America President Thinks PS Vita, 3DS Will Fade out in the West Within 2-3 Years

While NIS America President and CEO Takuro Yamashita believes “the right time has come” for major publishers to shift from PlayStation 3/Xbox 360 to PlayStation 4/Xbox One in the West, he thinks the PlayStation Vita and 3DS still have a few years left in them.

Speaking with MCV UK at gamescom, Yamashita said, “Talking about the handheld devices in the West, PlayStation Vita and 3DS will fade out in the next two to three years.”

Because of the focus on consoles for big games, he thinks there’s still a chance for smaller publishers to succeed on the handhelds. “I bet you that the small publishers can benefit without having strong competition if they continue to publish games for Vita and 3DS,” he added.

This week, you can pick up a variety of NIS America PS Vita and PlayStation Portable games at a discount in North America thanks to the PlayStation Store Summer Sale.

When do you think the PS Vita and 3DS will begin to fade out in North America/Europe?
