While the Final Fantasy VII remake won’t be out until sometime in 2016, you can still get your FFVII fix by taking a look as this amazing cosplay:
Done by cosplayers Wes Johnson and Sarah Quillian, and photographed by Jan-Michael Losada, Aerith’s (SPOILER ALERT) unexpected death is depicted in an amazing and beautiful way. Quillian explained that for the underwater shots, she actually had to stay submerged in water for some length of time, which was not an easy thing to do.
Underwater requires that you trick your brain to push past the point where it is demanding you return to the surface for air. The position I had to be in, in order to sink slowly to the bottom of the pool, also allowed water to flow up inside of my head! It was definitely an exhausting day, but I’m so happy with how the photos turned out!
