The VOTE: Metal Gear Solid – Big Boss or Solid Snake?

The VOTE allows you, the PSLS community, to cast your vote and determine once and for all which choice is definitively better. This is for all the marbles, and any other voting sort of analogies that you can think of. Feel free to discuss your choice in the comments below, but remember to keep it civil. We’ll have new votes every Wednesday, with results from the prior week posted at that time, so be sure to check back and make your voice heard.

Last week on The VOTE, we wanted to know if you would be willing to pay higher premiums on base game prices if it meant that the practice of DLC and Season Passes went away. In a surprisingly close battle, the ability to pay less but have options just barely grabbed the victory, with 55% of the votes in its favor, versus 45% for higher game prices. I personally agree that options are better so I can choose what I pay for, though many saw the more expensive games as the ability for those games to be complete from the beginning.

The most recent trailer for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain indicates that it will close the loop on a saga and mystery that is 28 years in the making. With this finality, we finally get to see the full legacy of Big Boss play out, from his early missions, to his appearance in Metal Gear Solid 4. But we have to remember that Big Boss wasn’t always the hero character. Our early memories of the series come from playing as his cloned son of sorts, Solid Snake.

Now that the loop will be closing, it’s time to choose which Snake you prefer. Will Solid Snake gain a win, with his association with Meryl and operations on Shadow Moses? Or will it be Big Boss, the catalyst for so many events within the franchise, and character we’ve been spending a lot more time with lately? It’s going to be a hard fought battle, but ultimately only one can come out victorious, so vote for your choice now!
