Update:
Treyarch talked a bit about the new beta update, saying the Stronghold map is “a high-tech Swiss chateau in the frozen, mountainous Alps. It features an asymmetrical design with a mix of exposed sightlines and tight, close quarters.”
As for the Uplink game mode, it’s “where players face off in an effort to send a satellite careening into an enemy’s goal. We hope that you enjoy our take on this fan favorite.”
Finally, the Reaper specialist was detailed:
- Real Name: Experimental War Robot (EWR)
- Bio: Started as an expensive military R&D project to supplement Special Operations soldiers in the field, the EWR was a cutting-edge prototype combat robot, the most advanced in the world at the time. Budget overruns and embarrassing political incidents left the project all but a resource for scrap metal, except for the one prototype that remained.
- Weapon: Scythe – Robotic arm that transforms into a high power Mini-Gun.
- Ability: Psychosis – Infiltrate enemy DNI systems to simulate three decoy clones.

At around 10am PT/1pm ET today, Treyarch will be updating the Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 beta on PlayStation 4 to include a raised level cap of 34, a new map in Stronghold, and a new mode in Uplink, Design Director David Vonderhaar announced.
With this update, it will see the amount of maps raised to four and amount of modes raised to eight. According to Charlie Intel, the new level cap will allow you to unlock the following: VMP SMG, H.A.T.R scorestreak, Power Core scorestreak, Reaper Specialist.
Addressing the level cap raise on Twitter, Vonderhaar said, “Less than 10% of you have hit the beta level cap. Keep at it.”
As for the new version of the beta (2.8.21.2) released last night, it just included “minor changes to the tuning of the work we did this morning,” which saw some UI related fixes and matchmaking improvements.
The Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 beta runs through Sunday, August 23.
