EA Reveals Concept Art for the Star Wars Battlefront Battle of Jakku DLC

Revealed on-stage at Disney’s D23 Expo earlier this month, EA and DICE have released better looks at the concept art for Star Wars Battelfront’s free Battle of Jakku DLC, which is out on December 1 for those who pre-order and December 8 for everyone else.

Set 29 years before Star Wars: The Force Awakens, EA explains that “the Battle of Jakku was the pivotal moment when the New Republic confronted key Imperial holdouts on a remote desert planet. Taking place in the aftermath of the Rebel victory in the Battle of Endor, players will experience the events that created the massive, battle-scarred landscape of Jakku shown in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.”

As you can see in the artwork, a Star Destroyer has crash landed on Jakku, with Imperial troops pouring out and battling with Rebel troops. Concept Artist Anton Grandert discussed the intensity he wanted to create:

There’s a David and Goliath theme to this. The epic, huge super structures of the Star Destroyers contrast against the tiny but brave Rebel soldiers fighting the Imperial forces.

In total, the Battle of Jakku DLC will include two maps set on the new planet.

Star Wars Battlefront releases on November 17 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, complete with some PS4 bundles.
