For this week’s big Friday video, we’re taking a look at Until Dawn’ s missteps — yep, it’s another entry in PlayStation LifeStyle’s Everything Wrong With video series. While we liked the game enough to recommend that PlayStation 4 owners play it, there’s still a few things that developer Supermassive Games could have done better.
And let’s face it, the whole focus of this video series is nitpicking and that’s exactly what we’re doing here.
Do you agree with complaints? What did you find wrong with Until Dawn ? Sound off and let us know in the comments below. You can also check out our prev-review expectations of Until Dawn in the gallery below.

Personally, I'm very excited for Until Dawn . I know it's not going to offer anything new in terms of gameplay, but I'm OK with that. As long as I get my fair share of scary moments, and its plot isn't too stupid or anything, I think I'll be more than satisfied with it.
Here's the interesting thing though: people I know that have played Until Dawn seem to like it a lot. However, that might be due to them being a fan of horror films/games and whatnot.
I see Until Dawn review scores going up as high as a 9, but I can also see some outlets maybe giving it a 6 due to it not being a "proper" game.
I've said this before in the comments, but if you play Until Dawn knowing what it is and accept it, then I think you'll have a good time. Now, if you're expecting it to be an action game, or something else, well, I think you'll be disappointed.
I hope it sells well since we need these kinds of games on the PS4. Not every game has to involve guns, sandbox this, massive world that, and whatever's the rage these days when it comes to gaming.

This game has all the makings of a complete bust that will actually be a hit because of the PS4's real lack of software right now. Specifically exclusive software. As for the scores, I could see this gaining around the 6-8 range from what I have seen, and from Anthony's preview .

The game hasn't had a lot of media coverage compared to other AAA titles but that doesn't necessarily mean anything bad. Until Dawn could be a surprise hit. Honestly, it's hard to predict. Previews are positive but for once, I'm waiting for reviews as well. I feel like it'll be an instant hit with Quantic Dream fans because it feels similar to the studio's titles. But I think there's always going to be that crowd which takes issue with Until Dawn being classified as a "video game." I'm making no predictions score-wise.

Until Dawn has loads of potential but I'm afraid that shallow characters will hold the importance of decision-making back. If players don't feel connected to the characters, the gravity of life and death decisions may not be there. Hopefully an original story with twists will make up for that and create a memorable experience that keeps players coming back for more. I have it pre-ordered and expect to enjoy it more than the reviewers. I'm predicting scores in the 68-72 range.

I had a blast playing Until Dawn at E3, and I feel like this will end up being a game that will sell well over time thanks to positive word of mouth. I'm not sure it will do big first week numbers since it seems like Sony has really dropped the ball marketing wise.

As Until Dawn is a heavily story-driven game, it must impress players with deep character development and a good plot. I need to actually care about the characters I'm playing as, and be fearful of those monsters I come up against. Overall, I predict a score of 7.5/10.

For me personally, the game has only increasingly excited me every time I've had a chance to see a little bit more of it. The mature direction will help more than hinder, and I can see there being a mixed bag of feelings about it. Some sites will rave about it with near perfect scores, some will completely pan it and drag its Metacritic rating down. It remains to be seen if the marketing for the game will actually net the sales they are looking for, but I can see this one potentially being a must-buy game for the PS4 through the end of the year, especially given the lack of any other really strong exclusives coming up. It's actually launching at a good time, considering that. Many may try it out just out of curiosity.

Until Dawn has my curiosity, but doesn't strike me personally as a day-one purchase. Supermassive is gunning for an interesting narrative set-up where every action has an equal and opposite reaction. Even still, the fact that all characters are modelled after shlock horror stereotypes -- and intentionally so -- makes me wonder whether they'll be likeable enough to hold my attention for the duration of the game. This coupled with the choice-based gameplay naturally makes it difficult to market to a wide demographic, and for me Until Dawn will go on to become a cult hit among PS4 users -- but little more.
