Assassin’s Creed Movie to Feature a New Story and Characters, Will Share Universe With Games

We recently learned that the upcoming Assassin’s Creed movie will tell the story of Callum Lynch and his ancestor Aguilar as opposed to any of the characters in the games. Many asked if this meant that the movie will deviate from the series, however, Ubisoft’s Head of Assassin’s Creed content, Aymar Azaïzia, has said that the movie will share the same universe with the games. “Elements in the film have consequences as in our games, comics, and books,” he further clarified.

Aymar also said that although the movie will tell a brand new story with new characters, it’s “possible you may find familiar faces.” He didn’t go into too many details, but he did confirm that the movie will feature Abstergo and present day. “You will find lots of elements from our franchise! Modern day is a key element in the franchise, and it is a key element in the movie,” he explained.

We’re also told that Callum will be “very different” from Desmond, Clay and Daniel Cross.

Assassin’s Creed movie is set to release in December 2016.
