Just the other day, Boss Key Productions Founder Cliff Bleszinski hinted that a console version of his upcoming free-to-play FPS title LawBreakers is possible. Recently, he reiterated that the game could still come to consoles in an interview with Destructoid.
People are like ‘You’re never coming to console,’ and I’m like ‘I never said that.
He explained that while his studio is too small to handle console versions by itself, if it was to get help from a partner, like Sony or Microsoft, then that would change things.
We’re 40 people. Even if we wanted to do a console version, we couldn’t right now. If one of those potential console partners (Sony or Microsoft) reaches out — and they reach out all the time — we meet with them, and let’s keep the dialogue going. It’s just that we wouldn’t be able to do the port ourselves. We’d need a really great partner that could knock it out of the park, keep it 60Hz, nail the controls, and make it fantastic.
Boss Key Productions also released a short bit of gameplay footage from LawBreakers, which you can see at the top of this post. The company also announced that on Friday it will be holding a live Q&A session on Twitch.
