Star Wars Battlefront Heroes and Villains Highlighted, Attacks Detailed

EA has finally given out more information on Star Wars Battlefront‘s Hero/Villain system, detailing both Darth Vader’s and Luke Skywalker’s attacks and abilities.

Luke

According to Senior Producer Jamie Keen, Luke’s Lightsaber attacks will be somewhat heavy and wide-sweeping, allowing him to deal a lot of damage to multiple enemies at once. At the same time, he will be able to use Force Push to send opponents flying through the air, or dash quickly towards enemies with Saber Rush. He will also be able to take advantage of high, Force-assisted jumps.

His jump is based on a normal biomechanical jump, but it’s augmented by the Force. You see this in the films as well, such as when he’s jumping out of the carbonite pit or when he’s training on Dagobah.

Vader

Keen explained that Vader will also use heavy Lightsaber attacks, which will be handy for defeating groups of enemies. Vader’s iconic Force Choke attack will be available to him, too, allowing him to strangle and move enemies from a distance. Saber Throw will be another long-ranged option.

It’s great for crowd control. The Saber Throw’s area of effect has been fine-tuned during development to make sure it’s as powerful as it should be.

Keen mentioned that players will get around two minutes of Hero or Villain time at once, and they can be used after obtaining a pickup. Just like in past Battlefront games, a Hero’s or Villain’s health will go down over time, and killing enemies will bring that health back up.

Our goal was to give an average player around two minutes as a Hero or Villain, but if you’re good enough, you might stretch that to around five minutes. In theory, you could play as Luke Skywalker for a whole match, but that is extremely unlikely. That said, the gauntlet is thrown!

Star Wars Battlefront is set to release on November 17, but be sure to keep a lookout for more information on the game’s upcoming October beta.
