Pre-Alpha Version of Dungeon Defenders 2 Releases This Month on PS4, Requires Paid Access

Update:

Trendy Entertainment says it will cost about $15 to buy the cheapest currency bundle, which contains gems, Hero accessories, skins, additional Hero slots, and more:

These bundles will be identical to the ones currently available on PC ($14.99, $24.99, $74.99), and will launch with an additional discount for PlayStation Plus members!

While your characters and progress will carry over from Alpha to Beta, Trendy warns:

Yes, your progress will carry with you. However, there will be occasional wipes when needed from a technical stand point. So, for example, PlayStation 4 players will get to participate in Wipeaggedon in a future patch, like PC players did earlier this year. This will be a chance to get gems, exclusive skins, and pets for leveling before a patch which wipes progression but adds in a lot more content to the game.

Original Story:

With Early Access on Sony’s mind for over a year, developer Trendy Entertainment announced today that a pre-alpha version of Dungeon Defenders 2 is coming to PlayStation 4 on September 29 in North America and Europe.

While Dungeon Defenders 2 is a free-to-play title, those wishing to play the pre-alpha version will need to purchase a currency bundle (price not revealed) through the PlayStation Store on September 29. Trendy adds, “In the future Dungeon Defenders 2 will be free, supported by ethical micro-transactions.”

An action tower defense game with RPG elements, Dungeon Defenders 2 pre-alpha will include controller support and two-player local co-op, with more features being added as development rolls on:

For this version we’re shipping two of our favorite Dungeon Defenders features for the first time in the sequel — controller support (obviously) and two-player local co-op. We can’t wait for you to get your hands, literally, on these and let us know what you think.

But please note that Dungeon Defenders II is still under development! During this time, some features, like local co-op and controller support, will be ahead of the PC version, but other features and content will be rolling in after they are released on PC.

Dungeon Defenders 2 has been in Early Access on PC since December.
