Assassin’s Creed Syndicate to Include Series’ First Transgender Character

Only a year ago, Ubisoft was criticized for not including any playable female characters in Assassin’s Creed Unity. In Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, however, not only will there be a playable female character, but it will also include the series’ first transgender character.

When it releases next month, Syndicate will contain the character Ned Wynert, a transgender male who will act as a quest-giver to the player. Speaking with Eurogamer, Creative Director Marc-Alexis Côté said that the team made a push for more diversity, and explained that inclusiveness is “super important.”

Inclusiveness is something that’s super important for us as a team. We’ve made a good push towards diversity and how we approach different subjects in the game.

What are your thoughts on the new character? Will you be picking up Assassin’s Creed Syndicate next month?
