Rise of the Tomb Raider Will Take You “Around 15 – 20 Hours” to Complete, Lead Designer Says

When Rise of the Tomb Raider comes to PlayStation 4 in late 2016, you can expect to find at least a 15-hour campaign, with completionists getting up to 40 hours of gameplay, according to Crystal Dynamics.

Speaking with PixelVulture at EGX, Lead Designer Mike Brinker talked about the size of the game, revealing how long it should take you to finish Lara’s newest adventure:

Expect to spend around 30 – 40 hours getting everything done. This is gathering every weapons, ability and completing every side quest. It all comes down to how you want to play through the game. Running through the game will take you around 15 – 20 hours. So expect double the play time collecting everything and exploring every secret tomb.

In terms of scale, all of the hub spaces (areas where you are free to explore and choose your own path) this time around “have been increased by three times the size” when compared to Tomb Raider. On top of that, Rise of the Tomb Raider includes more challenge tombs, crypts, caves, and side missions.

Based on comments from Microsoft, it appears a traditional multiplayer mode won’t be included in the game. However, we should be learning about “how players will be able to extend their single-player campaign and compete with their friends” fairly soon.
