While the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 will run at 60 frames-per-second, the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions will be aiming for 30fps.
In an interview with Develop, Beenox Creative Director Thomas Wilson said they “tried to hit” the target of 60fps seen in previous Call of Duty titles on last-gen consoles, but it “becomes harder when you’re working on current-gen platforms.”
Wilson adds, “We’re basically looking more at something like 30fps [for Black Ops 3 on PS3/360]. But still, the experience is very enjoyable, otherwise it’s not Call of Duty.”
Developed by Beenox and Mercenary Technology, the last-gen versions of Black Ops 3 won’t include a campaign due to quality concerns, are priced at $49.99, and include a copy of the original Black Ops.
Despite the increasing difficulty of bringing a Call of Duty game to PS3/360 with the new consoles out, Wilson believes it’s “totally still viable” to do it.
Do you think we’ll see 2016’s Call of Duty title on PS3 and Xbox 360?
