Sony: We Don’t Have Any First-Party PS Vita Games in Development, Focus Is on PS4

Earlier this year, Sony Worldwide Studios President Shuhei Yoshida said, “We are not making games like Killzone Mercenary, big budget Vita games anymore.”

Now, in a 4Gamer interview translated by Siliconera, Sony Computer Entertainment Executive Vice President Masayasu Ito confirmed that they aren’t making any first-party games for PlayStation Vita – big budget or small budget:

Currently, there are no first-party titles that are in development for the PlayStation Vita. Third-party companies are working hard on the PlayStation Vita, so we here at SCE have strategized to focus on our new platform of PlayStation 4.

Elsewhere in the interview, Ito highlighted that the PS Vita didn’t do well in the under 20 market in the beginning, but thanks to titles like Minecraft: PS Vita Edition, it’s seen a boost. On top of that, Ito says there are a number of third-party titles in development and, to further help sales, they’ll be releasing new colors this fall in Japan.
