YouTube user Westie has posted some gameplay footage from Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege, showing off the game’s solo mode aka “situations.” This is PC footage that was captured at an event in London.
In the absence of a traditional story mode, Situations will be “geared toward teaching the player how to use the different mechanics and operators,” according to Animation Director Scott Mitchell, who also said that the solo mode is a good way to familiarize ourselves with the maps and “ease into the experience.” One situation, for example, requires eliminating hostiles hiding in a building filled with hidden Nitro cells. Mitchell added:
At the end of the Situations, it leads you into your first exposure to the Terrorist Hunt modes. There are cinematics that give you context as to what’s going on. That’s when you end up getting communications from Six, where you find out about the White Masks and what’s going on there. Here, you can either play alone or with up to four other people.

Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege launches on December 1.
