Sega isn’t just adding button mashing and mid-song costume changes to the gameplay of Hatsune Miku: Project Diva X. There are also twists coming with “Live Quest,” according to GamesTalk. The change seems to have more to do with the idea of equipping things and their subsequent effects on Miku than anything else.
Different modules are available like before, but now with different sort of skill boosts that remind me of something like special RPG equipment or a different loadout in a shooter — that type of thing. They come with their own advantages, like being able to better recover from missed notes or Voltage Rate increases. Here are some screens and art, but I must warn you, they’re rips done by the above source. Having played the game, I can tell some if not all of these look a little washed-out and are not actual game quality:
Hatsune Miku: Project Diva X will arrive for Vita in Japan this March. The PS4 version is penciled in for fall. International dates have not been confirmed, though recent trends have seen Miku’s games going abroad with regularity.
More details on Live Quest mode are expect in the time leading up to release. I hope to follow tradition and review the import.
