Star Wars: First Assault Gameplay Showcases 20 Minutes of What Could Have Been

Over two years have passed since Disney shut down LucasArts, pulling the plug on Star Wars 1313 and Star Wars: First Assault. It was a disappointing time for the developers who lost their jobs, and for fans who had been following the games.

While there’s little chance of First Assault making a return, it’s nice to have a quick look at what could have been. The video above showcases a map on Tatooine. It’s a solid 20 minutes of gameplay from an early build of the game.

While the player is completely alone on the map, with no bots or other players in sight, there are still power-ups and pick-ups, as well as ships flying overhead. The gameplay gives a nice round-up of what equipment would have been available to players, should the game have survived up until public beta.

It’s a sad story, which will no doubt soon be forgotten when Star Wars Battlefront releases later this month.

What do you think of First Assault? Would you have given it a play?
