Sega will release a PS4 Valkyria Chronicles remaster on Feb. 10 in Japan and pricing it at 5,000-yen (that’s below usual retail price). It’s titled simply: Valkyria Chronicles Remaster.
As well, a sequel or spinoff will be arriving on PS4 in later 2016, called Valkyria: Azure Revolution (may not be the western title, if it comes west).

The images themselves aren’t super big or clear (which is why Famitsu publishes them), but Japanese game blogs are saying the following info on Azure Revolution:
- It takes places in Jutland, which is fighting for independence from the “Rus Empire.”
- The protagonists are a leader of Jutland’s anti-Valkyria fighting force and the nation’s own princess.
- The foundations of Valkyria Chronicles battle system look to be in place (expected of a sequel), but await confirmation on details.
- It’s developed by Media Vision, who developed Valkyria Chronciles III and is also known for Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth and the Wild ARMs series.
- The remaster will come with demo access to the sequel, and Media Vision & Sega are looking for fan feedback.
These are brand new announcements and of course don’t have western release dates yet, but the success of the Steam version of Valkyria Chronicles and growing cult following of the original should make this an easy call.

How much did you enjoy the best tactical RPG of generation seven? Back when I was even worse at writing than I am now, I wrote a cringeworthy review of the original Valkyria Chronicles here. I then gave its sequel the “I love you, but I’m not in love with you,” here, and the import review of the third game is actually housed within PlayStation LifeStyle. Yeah, I’m kind of a fan.
