Bloodborne Servers Offline For “Emergency Maintenance,” Could Last a Few Days

Earlier today, PlayStation Japan announced that the Bloodborne servers are currently undergoing emergency maintenance, and they could be down for a few days:

We are currently conducting emergency maintenance on the game servers. The maintenance should be complete within a few days. We will update you again once the maintenance ends.

We apologize for the inconvenience, and thank you for playing Bloodborne.

While Sony didn’t give an official reason, Kotaku discovered a Reddit post from Tim Wernicke, Lead Hosting Engineer for Bloodborne. According to him, the downtime is due to an exploit and serious issues in the game:

Thanks to the community here, we’ve received some really important feedback about an exploit and serious issues that exist in the game. The game is currently undergoing emergency maintenance, and we’re working non-stop to get some things patched and back online. So a huge thank-you to everyone here for the feedback, and please be patient while we work to get things restored.

I apologize that I can’t be more specific, but I wanted to let you know that we value your feedback, and what you’re doing here is really helping. So, thanks!

The Old Hunters DLC for Bloodborne launched last week and you can expect our review very soon.

Have you discovered any issues with Bloodborne after update 1.07 and The Old Hunters went live? What do you think about having to play offline for the next few days?
