The Walking Dead Michonne Hit With Slight Delay, Spinoff Due February 2016 (Update)

Update:

After nailing down an official release window, Telltale has offered up some new details regarding its Michonne spinoff; specifically, the actress who will be lending her vocal chords to the star role. Picking up the mantle is Orange is the New Black star Samira Wiley, who will portray the haunted protagonist across the three-episode miniseries.

Kevin Bruner, Co-Founder and CEO of Telltale Games, touched base on the journey that awaits fans of the studio’s flagship series.

We’ve been hard at work on this very special exploration of The Walking Dead universe that will further bridge together our game series with the canon of Robert Kirkman’s comic though one of its most complex characters struggling to maintain her own humanity. Deeply haunted by the decisions of her past, putting players in the role of a character like Michonne to navigate the broken world around her is an experience that feels uniquely Telltale, and something we simply cannot wait for The Walking Dead fans to play.

Original Story:

Initially expected to release this Fall, Telltale Games has officially confirmed that The Walking Dead Michonne will grace consoles, PC and mobile platforms in February, 2016.

Pitched as a three-part standalone series, players will be able to pick up the katana as the titular badass when the episodic offshoot shuffles onto PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PC, Mac, iOS, and Android early next year.

In related news, the studio also revealed a Batman series during tonight’s event.
