PlayStation VR Price & Release Date Being Announced Next Year, Yoshida Confirms

Mirroring comments he made at Paris Games Week, Sony Worldwide Studios President Shuhei Yoshida confirmed that they won’t be talking about PlayStation VR’s price and release date until next year.

He confirmed the news to GameSpot, adding that they haven’t been showing the “what else”:

These things we are not able to show as yet. We are working hard to prepare for the reveal of these features that we haven’t been able to talk about [for] PlayStation VR. As well as of course pricing and release date and what do you get when you buy the system.

While he didn’t confirm anything, Yoshida knows that, because it’s a new platform, “people are looking forward to know, other than playing VR games, what they can do with PS VR when they purchase it.” This could include the support of services like Netflix and Twitch, but we’ll have to wait until next year for official details.

At PlayStation Experience 2015, Sony revealed a number of PlayStation VR titles, including Rez Infinite, Golem, Ace Combat 7, Job Simulator, and more.

PlayStation VR is still scheduled for launch in the first half of 2016, with the device set to be priced as a new gaming platform.
