Hardware: Rivals PS4 Release Date Confirmed as January 5, 2016

Following a beta this past October, Hardware: Rivals from developer Sony Computer Entertainment Connected Content Group is coming exclusively to PlayStation 4 on January 5, 2016 in North America and Europe. It will be priced at $19.99/€20.99.

Senior Producer Daniel Durnin gave an overview of Rivals:

For those of you new to the game, Hardware: Rivals is an explosive, over-the-top, vehicle combat game where you pit yourself against other drivers in heavy tanks or fast attack vehicles. Battle online through multiple maps, game modes, challenges, and special events. As you take down your enemies, you will collect bounties for hunting your biggest rivals. You can play as a lone wolf or as part of a team.

Since the beta, the dev team added a new map, Outpost 92 – a frozen, deep core mining facility drowning in snow and ice, cut off in the face of an onrushing blizzard – and some new vehicles, the Sledgehammer (Tank) and Nomad (FAV). Along with the Predator and Wraith, all four vehicles can be customized with skins and add-ons, and the handling and weapons systems are upgradeable.

After launch, Sony will patch in new maps, new vehicles, and new game modes for free. There will also be unique community events each week that mix up the modes, weapons, and rewards.

In a Q&A on the PlayStation Forums, the dev team revealed that progress from the beta will be reset.
