Outlast 2 Conjures up New Teaser Image, Horror Sequel Will Take Place in Different Setting

Tired of creeping gingerly around the dark and dank corridors of Mount Massive Asylum? Developer Red Barrels Games brings good news today, after the studio conjured up a foreboding image for Outlast 2 that teases the game’s new setting.

Retaining the aesthetic of a found footage horror movie, the ominous new snippet doesn’t give much away in terms of plot, but we do know that the studio’s horror sequel will follow new characters in a brand new location.

Set for release later this year, here’s the official, somewhat unnerving plot synopsis.

No conflict is ever black and white. But once the dust has settled, the victors get to decide who was right and who was wrong. Who is good and who is evil. Human nature pushes us to extremes of violence and depravity, which we then justify by divine inspiration and a promise of paradise to come. Horror rises from desperation and blind faith. OUTLAST 2 will test your faith, pushing players to a place where going mad is the only sane thing to do.

Story details and a firm release date are being kept under lock and key, however Red Barrels expects to launch Outlast 2 in 2016.
