With the new Freedom Fighters gameplay trailer today, Deep Silver revealed Resistance Mode for Homefront: The Revolution, which supports four-player co-op online.
Forming a Resistance Cell with your friends online, Resistance Mode sees you fighting against the KPA military in narrative-driven missions across occupied Philadelphia. You’ll be able to customize your personal roster of Freedom Fighters as you unlock new skills, new weapon blueprints, rare equipment, and combat gear.
As Game Director Hasit Zala explained, Homefront: The Revolution also offers a 30-hour single-player campaign, and additional Resistance Mode missions will be released after launch for free:
Homefront: The Revolution is this team’s most ambitious project yet. In addition to our epic 30-plus hour single-player campaign, we expect to launch Resistance Mode with 12 Missions, packed with re-playability, and hope to release another 20 Missions within the first year. To ensure our community can always play together, all Resistance Mode Missions will be free to download.
In an interview with GameSpot, Game Designer Fasahat Salim talked about Homefront’s micro-transactions, which allow you to spend money on loot crates. According to Salim, this won’t be a pay-to-win set-up:
It’s absolutely not a pay-to-win system because everything we’re providing in these resistance crates is available for free in the game through normal play. All we’re offering is, for those players that don’t necessarily have the time to invest in the game, to unlock those cool things. It’s basically just a time saver for them; a shortcut to unlocking these things.
They pay a little bit of money but they’re not getting anything that’s exclusive to them.
Deep Silver isn’t planning any map packs for Homefront, and the developer will release a mission as soon as it’s done.
Homefront: The Revolution releases on May 17 in North America and May 20 in Europe for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. By pre-ordering you’ll receive the Revolutionary Spirit pack, adding the Red Skull motorbike skin, the Golden pistol skin for campaign, and instant unlocks of the Marksman Rifle, Sniper Scope, and Remote Explosives for your Resistance Mode character.
