Doom Won’t Include Micro-Transactions, Consumables Are Earned In-Game

When Bethesda announced the May 13 release date for Doom yesterday, they also mentioned a Demon Multiplayer Pack pre-order bonus, which includes six Hack Modules – one-time consumable items “that can give you an edge in a multiplayer match.”

This led to speculation that Doom would include micro-transactions, but Pete Hines, VP of Marketing and PR at Bethesda, quickly shot it down, saying Hack Modules are earned in-game:

Hines also commented on Doom beta invites for owners of Wolfenstein: The New Order, saying, “We haven’t given the date for that. It’s coming though, I promise.”

As for Fallout 4 mod support, he re-confirmed that it “will come to Xbox One first and then PS4.” He doesn’t know how far apart they’ll be, because “they both require work to allow what we want to do. It hasn’t really been done before.”

When asked if Fallout 4 mods are coming before or after the first piece of DLC, Hines replied, “We haven’t said.”
