In an interview with Fox News, GameStop CEO Paul Raines talked about the upcoming launches of the different virtual devices, mentioning that PlayStation VR will release this fall:
[VR is] a big launch. We’re getting ready for it. We will launch the Sony product [PlayStation VR] this fall, and we are in discussions with the other two players [Oculus Rift and HTC Vive].
Previously, Sony said that PlayStation VR will be available in the first half of 2016.
When reached for comment about this story, a Sony rep told VideoGamer, “The launch date [for PlayStation VR] will be announced in due course. We have nothing more to comment on at this time.”
Along with a release date, we’re also waiting to hear a price for PSVR. Sony’s Andrew House said it would be priced as a new gaming platform, while SuperData estimates a price tag of $400 – $600. Also, according to Oculus’s Palmer Luckey, PSVR “isn’t quite as high-end” as the $599 Oculus Rift.
