Even with strong competition from Street Fighter V, Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 managed to finish in first place for an 11th week since launch, and has been #1 for six of the first seven weeks in 2016, losing only to LEGO Marvel’s Avengers.
The previous record for a Call of Duty game at #1 was Modern Warfare 2 with nine.
Black Ops 3 has a long ways to go if it wants the overall #1 record, with Who Wants to be a Millionaire in 2000 and 2001 seeing 18 weeks at the top.
Looking at the new releases, Street Fighter V debuted in 2nd place but failed to outsell 2009’s Street Fighter IV, which still holds the title of best week 1 sell-through. Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon, meanwhile, placed in 9th.
