Priced at $19.99/€19.99/£15.99 each, Capcom announced today that Resident Evil 4, Resident Evil 5, and Resident Evil 6 will be coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in 2016 as digital releases.
Things kick off next month on March 29 with Resident Evil 6, then continue with Resident Evil 5 in summer 2016 and Resident Evil 4 in fall 2016. Capcom also said that physical disc versions will be available in the Americas, but they didn’t reveal pricing or release date details.
As Capcom explained, Resident Evil 6 on PS4 and Xbox One includes all post-launch DLC:
Resident Evil 6 is the biggest Resident Evil game to date with not one (Leon S. Kennedy and Helena Harper), not two (Chris Redfield and Piers Nivans), not even three (Jake Muller and Sherry Birkin), but FOUR (Ada Wong and Agent) campaigns that are all interwoven and can be played alone or coop in any order. These series staples and new characters face a global C-virus outbreak that’s threatening to destroy the world. In addition to all the story campaigns, RE6 includes a variety of multiplayer modes that vary up the action. Extra good news for everyone – the upcoming release will also include all the additional post-launch content from the console version (DLC and all the costumes originally only available through ResidentEvil.net).
Resident Evil 6 also includes enriched multiplayer matchmaking and improved control options:
- Enriched multiplayer matchmaking – Cycle Mode automatically enters you into recommended multiplayer games and Online Campaign Custom Match now includes options to search for a character campaign without having to specify a chapter
- Improved control options – Auto-action option simplifies button prompts for quick time events, extends time limits for specific scenes and aids automobile controls. Default mapping of keys and default game settings have been optimized, but players can still remap keys and adjust back to the original game settings if desired
It remains to be seen if any of the games will receive visual improvements.
Capcom also reiterated that the Resident Evil 2 remake “is on the way.”
